Client Diaries

One of the funniest things about working with founders is this:

The person who should probably be the most visible in the company is often the busiest in the room. And usually, the least interested in posting about herself.

I’ve had founders tell me things like,

“Do we really need a photo?”

“It’s just a picture.”

“I don’t think this story is interesting.”

And I get it.

When you’ve spent years building a company, you don’t necessarily see the things other people see.

The story you think is “nothing special” might be exactly what another founder needed to hear. And the thing you dismiss with, “Who would care about this?” is often the thing I want to write about most.

Personal branding isn’t about making someone look important, it’s about helping people notice what is already there.

She has spent years building the company. She has done the hard part.

She has built the product, hired the team, dealt with customers, made the difficult calls and kept going when things didn’t work.

The least I can do is make sure people know who built it.

People don’t connect with companies the way they connect with people.

And sometimes, the hardest part of personal branding isn’t finding the right words.

It’s convincing someone that their presence matters enough to be seen.
